Recently the American Dental Association mandated greater effort toward the recognition and treatment of periodontal disease in the general practice. You must recognize, treat, and/or refer all stages of periodontal disease. We believe this to the fullest extent and have taken steps to further our education on the subject. We treat and prevent non-surgical stages of periodontal disease here in our office.
Non-surgical treatment is a treatment for periodontal disease that begins at the earliest stage in order to control periodontal infection. We begin diagnosis at your first visit to our office through our comprehensive periodontal evaluation. This includes all of the variables that may influence treatment such as etiology, general systemic health, heredity, at home care modification, and nutritional analysis. All of these factors are taken into consideration when we design individualized treatment programs. Repetitive therapeutic appointments are used to achieve a gradual healing process with the continuation of treatment until disease is controlled. Your individualized program will consist of as many therapeutic appointments as are necessary to achieve optimum oral health.
Our goal is to eliminate or control the infection in your mouth. In order to do this, proper at home care is essential. Your hygienist will discuss at home care with you as a part of your treatment.
Preventing the onset of periodontal disease is very important to us. We will provide you with the knowledge and optimum in-office care to help you achieve a healthy, beautiful smile. Along with your regular visits to our office, proper at home oral care is essential in maintaining a healthy smile. This includes brushing your teeth after each meal, flossing between your teeth, and using mouthwash daily. We look forward to the opportunity to help you achieve the healthy smile you have always wanted.
We encourage you to seek further information in order to educate yourself on the prevention, risk and treatment of periodontal disease.
